Mon. 7/21: After a rain delay from 4:00 (just after final last chance race) to 7:30, Oxford Plains Speedway finally got the 250 in.

Bill Jr. ran to a 14th place finish from his 23rd starting spot.

Jeremie started in 41st with the Past Champion Provisional after suffering heavy nose damage in the 3rd Last Chance Race. Jeremie was elgible for a previous race winner's provisional thanks to his 2006 TD Banknorth victory. The rain delay was a blessing for Jeremie and his team. They were able to use the afternoon to get the car race-ready.

Jeremie finished in 34th after being caught up in a multicar wreck.

Sun. 7/20: Oxford Plains Speedway is struggling to get in the 490 laps of the qualifiers and the feature of the TD Banknorth 250 as rain repeated disrupts the show.

With 86 competitors on hand for 42 starting spots, the racers draw for heat positions and then run six heats, three concis, and three last chance races.

250 Starting Lineup Page
to see the qualifying results and how the starting grid was formed.

After changing just about everything on Saturday to try to find some speed, Bill Jr. drew the 6th starting spot in Heat #5 and raced to a 4th place finish to earn the 23rd starting spot in the feature.

Jeremie, racing the #00 for owner Al Brown, was one of the faster cars right out of the trailer and worked very little on the car.
He drew the 9th starting spot in Heat #6, but will have to wait till
Monday now - see the rain delay info just below.

As of
At 8:13 Sunday night, the track has pulled the plug on the day's racing with heavy rain again.
The event is now scheduled to resume at 2 PM Monday afternoon, starting with Heat #6.  The gates will open at Noon. Unfortunately, the hour by hour forecast at Weather.com indicates Monday may bring similar showers all day long.

BREAKING NEWS:  THE COASTAL 200

Saturday, May 25th -- Wiscasset Raceway

Travis Barret's Green-White-Checker Blog Report HERE

"Whorff took advantage of a carefully thought out pit strategy and heavy attrition in the early going to win the Coastal 200 -- the biggest win of his racing career and first ever at Wiscasset."

BILL WHORFF JR. DOMINATES THE COASTAL 200

by Ken Minott - 5-25-08      FULL STORY on Wiscasset Site Here

"When the dust cleared and the marathon program ended, it was West Bath's Bill Whorff Jr standing in victory lane holding the first place trophy and ready to cash the $10,000 winner's check for winning the Coastal 200.

Whorff took advantage of a carefully thought out pit strategy and heavy attrition in the early going to win the main event for the Smith Construction Late Model Sportsman -- the biggest win of his racing career and first ever at Wiscasset.

"We decided before the race we wanted to get to the 125 laps and let everyone else pit early, which they did," Whorff said. "We needed to wait for the gas, to get the rear weight percentage we wanted to get the car to go right."

Whorff's #10
AAA / Whorff Excavation Ford Taurus was one of only 2 cars to finish on the lead lap of the race which took nearly 2 1/2 hours to run and was marred by 19 caution periods."

Bill Jr. - 12th Jeremie - 21st
Bill Jr. and Jeremie had a fun day at the track and tore up a lot of fiberglass during the PASS race on Sunday.  Bill Jr. finished 12th but not without incident. He was spun into the sand pile on turn 4 which bent a shock bracket early in the race. Changes made during a series of pit stops before the damage was discovered only made the car worse. He started to gain momentum but was involved in another wreck that smashed his nose in about a foot. So a 12th is not so bad considering.

Jeremie was running in the 8th position when he got spun out in the 3rd turn.  He pitted several times to try to get the car back, but there just wasn't enough duct tape in the world for his condition.

The boys will be busy this week getting Bill Jr's LMS ready for the Coastal 200 and repairing damaged Pro Stocks for Sunday's full day of racing.
